A Time To Celebrate!
The Holidays are a time to celebrate and Habitat is in full celebration mode with back to back exciting events!
On November 1st, 2008 board members, habitat staff, volunteers, and family members of the Akini-Soares family gathered in Kawaihae for the groundbreaking of our 7th home! After many blessings and prayers, the family was given a tree to symbolize our collective hopes for their con-tinuing strength and growth. The Akini-Soares’ home is the first of five scheduled to be built on Hawaiian Homelands throughout the next year. We are thrilled to have so many volunteers and supporters for these upcoming builds! If you would like to get involved call Annie 331-8010!
On November 8th, 2008, habitat staff, board members, volunteers, friends, and members of the Cho family congregated in Ocean View for another happy event. The Cho Family’s Home Dedica-tion celebrates the family’s attainment of their dream of homeownership, as well as completion of Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii’s 5th home. The ceremony included the traditional blessing, ribbon cutting and presentation of the house keys. Furthermore, our primary build volunteers and other key volunteers were formerly recognized for their hard work, their determination, and their outstanding kindness! We are eternally grateful to our volunteers; we couldn’t accomplish all we do without you!
3 Ways You Can Help!
DONATE TO HABITAT!
Please consider making a monetary donation to Habitat today. Your donation helps to break the chain of poverty for these families and move them into simple and decent homes as soon as possible.
VOLUNTEER WITH HABITAT!
You can volunteer in a variety of ways. We always can use help in our ReStore and on our builds, and currently we are seeking volunteers who can help provide food for our build volunteers on Saturdays. Contact Annie at 331-8010 to learn more about how you can get in-volved!
VISIT OUR RESTORE!
Come shop at our ReStore! Our ReStore is open to the public Mon.-Fri. from 10am-4pm and Sat. 9am-4pm. We sell donated building materials , furniture, and home accessories for 50-90% off the original price. Your purchase becomes funding for our home builds! You can also do-nate items to our ReStore for a tax deduction. We appreciate your support in either capacity. For more in formation call Jim, our Re-Store Manger: 331-8010
News from the ReStore!
The Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii ReStore is now open Monday–Friday 10am-4pm and now every Saturday from 9am-4pm! Please continue to help us by spreading the word about our ReStore and talking with your friends, neighbors, and co-workers, telling them of the great buys that are available here. Your talk is our most valu-able advertising resource. We are able to supply you with some brochures to aid in your efforts for us.
Our current success is due largely to two things. First we have been blessed with a large group of do-nors, be it individuals, contractors, resort personal, retail businesses, or property managers, who have decided to go out of their way to support our efforts. They keep us stocked with a never ending supply of good re-sellable treasures our public is anxious to discover. At this time we would like to thank the Hilton Waikoloa for their do-nations over the last couple of months. Their generous donations provided a sub-stantial amount of funding for our Ocean View Build!
Second, we have a wonderful group of volunteers who give of themselves every week with great enthusiasm and consistency. Our volunteers make shopping at our ReStore Fun! Some of these volunteers give as much as 18 hours of their time weekly, but each of them contributes in a way that would make any retailer proud. Thank you to all!!! We, of course can always use more help! If you would like to join our volunteer team please give me a call. Jim Uding: 331-8010
