Updates for the Builds in Kawaihae
The Bell home is close to completion. Volunteers have been busy installing flooring, cabinets, countertops and painting the interior over the past few weeks. A blessing of her home is planned for the latter part of March.
Habitat for Humanity and Green Collar Technologies got together on a Saturday and held a “Backyard Food Production Class” at the Peterson home. Those that attended learned how to build a raised bed garden using hog wire and shade cloth, and 3 teachers from the Teach America built a raised bed garden using rocks around the home. We hope that this collaboration with Green Collar Technology will continue to our other Habitat projects in the future.
The roof is on the Peterson home. Volunteers have been busy installing the roof and doing touch ups on the exterior. Next on the schedule will be wiring the home, installing the drywall, taping and texturing and painting the interior.
